Ketamine has a powerful antidepressant effect. For many people, this mood enhancing effect can be strengthened by psychotherapy that occurs both during and after a ketamine infusion treatment. One of our lead therapists discusses ketamine assisted therapies in the adjacent video.
The Transcend Process
What people are saying about Transcend
If you are at what feels like the end of the road, you have found exactly where you need to be. It is hard to put into words just how much Transcend Ketamine Clinic has changed my life. After 8 years of trying every prescription drug and cocktail my psychiatrists could manage, I had given up hope. I thought that I would also be a broken person with broken emotions. A phrase I regularly spouted to my therapist was that "Life will never feel as good as how painful it is." At what felt like the end of the road, my therapist recommended ketamine infusions. I looked around Austin and accepted this was just the next thing I would try and it would fail, until I spoke with one of Transcend Ketamine's therapists, Anna. At the bottom of the deepest darkest hole possible, recovery seemed like an impossibility. After just minutes of speaking on the phone with Anna, I felt hope for the first time in my life. Hope that I could get better. Hope that maybe things wouldn't always be so painful. She listened to my story and cast no judgement, she gave support, kindness, and affirmation that there was still hope to hold onto. The medicine I had been taken for years was a bandaid, but Transcend Ketamine Clinic was my chance to finally truly heal what was broken. The staff at Transcend has nothing but kindness in their hearts. Each member of their team treated me like a member of their family. I was supported and guided through every step of the process. They left no question unanswered, no concern ignored, and were prepared and experienced beyond belief. I have grown into someone that I never thought possible. I have experienced joy and happiness for the first time in my entire life. They held my hand through the toughest experiences I've ever faced, celebrated me at every step of the journey, and prepared me for a future as a new person. I owe my happiness and who I am to the professional team at Transcend Ketamine Clinic. I am eternally grateful for their care and support. It is hard to speak about my recovery, but the impact it has made is worth sharing and I will advocate for them at every step of the way, just as they did for me.
I just finished my sixth infusion, and it has been life changing. I’ve been in and out of therapy and on meds for depression and anxiety for almost 25 years. None of it came anywhere close to actually *healing* me. This has, or at least has given me a much-needed reprieve! The staff is all fantastic! Carol (amazing!) was my therapist, Will (amazing!) my nurse, and Paige (amazing!) does the administrative stuff. All of them are incredibly knowledgeable about how ketamine works, all the recent studies, etc. I learned about ketamine therapy from my psychiatrist. I was hesitant at first, because it sounds pretty out there. But I read a lot of studies and decided IV infusions were the way to go, since they’re the most effective. And I wanted it to be therapist-assisted, because the results are better that way. So, I looked and found Transcend. For the first time in my teen/adult life, I am sub-clinical, which means I’m officially, medically, no longer depressed! If you feel like you’ve tried it all or just want to kick depression/anxiety for good, please check this place out!
When I went to Transcend, to say it was LIFE ALTERING, I mean that with every inflection of each letter, and sense of my being. In my opinion, it was so intensive, that it is the equivalent of YEARS of therapy, within 9 treatments. Disclaimer: not all results are the same, and everyone's journey is different. I have now since "graduated" and am now at a more "normal human level" of stress versus where I was, according to the questions I answered every visit. I am no longer a "patient", but am an advocate for Ketamine. I had such severe anxiety, depression and PTSD from multiple different issues like physical, sexual and emotional abuse, grief, and so much more. I would have awful flashbacks, at random times, that were debilitating. It negatively affected my marriage, sometimes. I was prescribed a very high dose of xanax to take EVERYDAY for my severe anxiety, and this had been going on long before Josh passed away. His passing just made it worse. I had depression, and anxiety, pretty much my entire life. Been mis-diagnosed a plethora of times. I was unable to shake it with traditional therapy like counseling, and psychologists, for over 20 years. I wanted to be a better version of myself, and a better mom for my kids. I knew I could not keep living like that, inside of my head, as I did not want to project my hang ups onto my kids, especially being a newly found "single" mom. I did not want any of my bad mentality to be "learned." I would literally fake it to make it. I INVESTED on my mental health. My kids are worth it! I am willing to do/try ANYTHING for them. I have been sober for 13 years from controlled substances. I was trying to get OFF of my Xanax, get rid of my crippling anxiety, and so much more. I was INVESTING into mine, and my children's, future. And I am sooooo grateful I did. I wish I had done it YEARS AGO!! My point of sharing is to show you guys there are other methods of therapy than the traditional ones we grew up with. This World is evolving and getting more enlightened. They even use it as Anesthesia now for, many procedures in hospitals, instead of traditional anesthesia that has a lot of complications, including death. It is not as taboo as it used to be, and is being practiced more and more, every day, by doctors. This therapy peels back the layers where your body has already created calluses around your trauma/stigma. Something that traditional therapy COULD NOT DO for me. It could never get to the core like Ketamine did. I WILL be following up with a traditional psychologist. :) I need to be VERY clear about something. NOT ALL KETAMINE CLINICS ARE CREATED EQUAL!! Some places are just.....how should I put it......money hungry. They do things differently, than Transcend. I did my homework. I researched the different places. I know people who went to other clinics. I chose this place, because it had psychotherapy WITH the infusions. Not just Ketamine, but someone to help me work through my issues, while under the influence, to get even deeper inside of my brain. I can intellectually tell you there are some clinics that can give this type of therapy a bad rap, in this same regional area. My family, and friends, are so much happier for me now. They tell me that I seem happier, and they like this "new" Lola. I have got out of my comfort zone, and couldn't be happier. I went skydiving and parasailing, thanks to these treatments. I am LIVING vs SURVIVING. I do not regret it. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I AM so much happier now. It helped me, IMMENSELY, with the loss of my husband. It helped me wrap my head around a lot of different emotions, and things that have happened in my life. I did not know what feeling FREE felt like UNTIL NOW! What a great feeling!!! Thank you, Transcend, for helping me live a better life. I will never, ever, forget what you have done for my family. I will continue on this path of healing. Not just for me, but for my kids.
I don't write a lot of reviews but I was compelled to write this. I was suffering from a very bad treatment resistant depression, nothing seemed to be helping. I had heard about ketamine and decided to try it. My psychiatrist recommended Transcend, which is operated by Will Ratliff. She also recommended a therapist named Carol Gilson to be in the room with me to do what is called "ketamine assisted psychotherapy".I have to tell you that these are two of the kindest most empathetic mental health professionals I have ever known (and I have known many). After the fourth infusion I started to notice a difference and today I can honestly tell you that I am in a much better place. Recovering from a severe depression is not easy and takes a lot of work, but with Will and Carol on your side, you will be off to a great start.
Transcend Multimodality Clinic is providing life changing treatments in a comfortable and safe setting. The idea of being treated with a Ketamine infusion was never something I had considered before it was brought up as an option by my medical professional; and it is something that took me a while to warm up to. Transcend has created the best possible environment to explore this treatment option with confident and deeply experienced staff that remove any of the concern that may exist with seeking help in this way. The people working at Transcend are some of the best in their respective fields, and do an excellent job of explaining the process at your first visit, ensuring a safe and stable treatment environment, and counseling you through the process to get the most out of it. I cannot thank Will and Paul enough for the difference they've made in my life and can only hope that more clinics will follow their model and match their passion to grow the field and help more people.
For a place that just opened they have their act together. I brought my family member in yesterday and was very impressed by the level of staff knowledge and unique-ness of the facility compared to other ketamine places, would highly recommend.

Ketamine Can Treat The Following Conditions
Yes, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Really Works.
This is data from a widely used therapeutic outcome measure that demonstrates the powerful effect of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). This data pertains to a 23 year old male who came to us struggling with chronic depression and associated suicidal ideation that had not responded to traditional psychotherapy or standard psychiatric medications. Notice the dramatic drop-off after the patient's 4th KAP session.. His score has fallen into the sub-clinical range (below the yellow dotted line).
